This all started on August 1 when Ken called me from France (he was on a business trip) and told me in a 45 second phone call that his boss approached him with an opportunity of relocating to Strasbourg, France for a couple of years. During the next couple of months, we worked out the details and on October 28 we left for our house hunting trip.
During the initial conversations, I was so excited about the opportunity - I think that I was more excited than Ken was. Since then, I have been mostly excited, but there have definitely been some sad moments. I had to quit my job and say good-bye to my students. Last week the movers were here and packed up our house, so it is pretty empty in here. This weekend we were able to spend Christmas in Chicago with my family, but at the end of it, we had to say good-bye . It didn't go so well. It was really hard.
The "Verlare" girls, even though none of us are Verlare's anymore.
Crazy cousins
We are down to just over 2 more weeks here in Michigan. There are going to be many more get togethers with friends and alot more difficult good-byes. Despite my being sad now, we are really looking forward to the adventures of living in France. We are so excited to see new things and experience life outside the midwest for a while.
During the craziness of the past couple of weeks, I never got around to sending out Christmas cards. So, here is my last-minute attempt.
Merry Christmas from the Ryan family
