Home Sweet Home

It is so nice to be home! The trip over actually went much better than expected. Ken had to stay and work, so I flew by myself with the kids. Both kids did absolutely amazing - I was surprised! I did my best to minimize the amount of carry on luggage so I wasn't such a spectacle walking onto the plane with two little kids, however it did not minimize the amount of eye rolls and obvious disappointment from people when I sat down next to them. I know that if I was traveling by myself I would feel the same way having 2 little kids sit by me, but they didn't have to be so obvious - give us a chance! I was most worried about Beckett. Thankfully, he knew he had to step up his game and was very well behaved so when it was time for him to get up and walk the aisles (after 7 hours in the air), he was smiling and people thought he was cute instead of annoying.

So excited!

When we walked off of the plane, Laurie and Hudson were there waiting to take us home. A HUGE thank you to the Kerstetters and Krills for making sure the house was clean and fridge was stocked for us when we walked in! It was so nice to not have to worry about that stuff right away and just work on getting the kids adjusted.

The transition into being "Americans" has been pretty smooth. It is so easy here! I can go into Target and read all of the labels and not have to translate anything, we can order at restaurants, we can understand other peoples conversations. Beckett has had a very easy time. He is a very happy baby (I am going to have to stop calling him a baby soon!) and loves sleep, so I can put him down to bed and he just sleeps until I get him up. Ava took about 2 weeks to get her sleep adjusted. She also thinks our house is too big (she keeps losing me) and she thinks it is too hot here - I agree!

The kids and I spent a couple of days in Grand Rapids and then we headed to Chicago to see my family. I don't think anyone was more excited than Ava. Her cousin Jack is her favorite person ever! We had a great 5 days spending time with family and friends.

"All Aboard"

Beckett was obsessed with the trains!

When we got back to Grand Rapids, we only had a couple of days to wait until Ken got home. We were so happy to see him! Since Ken got home, we have been busy seeing friends, going to appointments, and hitting up our favorite restaurants. It is odd for me to go from cooking every night in France, to not making a single dinner here. Such a nice change of pace, although 75% of our family has suffered some stomach issues due to the different food.

Date night at "The Head And The Heart" concert

Our time here has been great so far. It almost feels like we haven't been gone for 6 months since we moved right back into our house and started hanging out with friends just like we did before we left. We are excited that we still have 3 weeks to go here!
